Caldo de Costilla is a simple, restorative Colombian beef soup made with slow broth, potato, and herbs. It is light enough for breakfast and strong enough for dinner.

Soup tastes best thawed overnight, then warmed gently.
Heat in a covered saucepan on low heat until loosened. Stir, then continue heating until hot throughout.
Use defrost only to loosen the soup. Then heat in short bursts, stirring between each burst.
Do not thaw at room temperature. Heat until steaming hot throughout, ideally 74°C / 165°F.
