Caldo de Costilla is a simple, restorative Colombian beef soup made with slow broth, potato, and herbs. It is light enough for breakfast and strong enough for dinner.

Best way to heat

Soup tastes best thawed overnight, then warmed gently.

Best texture

Thaw in the fridge overnight, then empty into a saucepan. Warm on low to medium heat, stirring often.

From frozen

Heat in a covered saucepan on low heat until loosened. Stir, then continue heating until hot throughout.

Microwave

Use defrost only to loosen the soup. Then heat in short bursts, stirring between each burst.

Do not thaw at room temperature. Heat until steaming hot throughout, ideally 74°C / 165°F.

Beef rib broth, beef, potato, onion, garlic, cilantro, salt, spices.
Allergens
Prepared in a kitchen that may handle dairy, gluten, egg, and soy.
Storage
Keep frozen at -18C. Best within 3 months. Once thawed, refrigerate and consume within 24 hours.
Heating
Heat from frozen or thawed in a saucepan until boiling, then simmer briefly before serving.
